Help us to heed Your voice and bask in the light of Your grace through Jesus Christ, our transfigured Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.Ĩ And Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”ĩ Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up,ġ0 and they saw the God of Israel. Leader: Heavenly Father, in the transfiguration of Your Son You have shined grace and glory upon the world, and by Your own testimony we hear that Jesus is indeed Your beloved Son. OPENING SONG “Crown Him with Many Crowns” As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Leader: Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. Forgive our sins and open our ears to Your voice once again. We have ignored His voice and plugged our ears to His words of mercy. People: We confess that we have not listened to You or Your Son. So now, we come before our heavenly Father to ask for His forgiveness. We have chosen to listen to the voice of the world rather than the voice of our transfigured Lord. We hear the voice of our heavenly Father saying, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased listen to Him.” Yet, as we follow Jesus, we have often failed to listen to His words. Leader: Today we celebrate the transfiguration of Jesus. Leader: In the name of the Father and of the X Son and of the Holy Spirit. O Jesus, I promise to surrender all to You, O Jesus, I promise to surrender all, surrender all. bode, 1816-1874 Written and arranged by Mary McDonald incorporating Salley Gardens traditional Irish melody. God’s face certainly shines on us today and we look forward to the day when Jesus comes again in glory to permanently shine His face upon us. Jesus’ transfiguration reminds us of the blessing we hear every week at the end of worship in the Benediction for the Lord’s face to shine upon us. As Jesus went up on the Mount of Transfiguration, his brightness shined upon the disciples. THEME: Today is a special opportunity to consider the brightness of Jesus.
